The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection has convened a Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting to review and support the development of a new National Plan of Action (NPA) to combat human trafficking in Ghana.
The meeting, organised through the Ministry’s Human Trafficking Secretariat, brought together key stakeholders to assess progress, identify gaps and discuss strategies to strengthen the country’s response to trafficking.

Discussions focused on the availability and classification of trafficking data, resource mobilisation and funding for anti-trafficking interventions, as well as measures to improve monitoring and data collection systems.
Participants also highlighted the need for stronger coordination among relevant institutions and partners to ensure the effective implementation of anti-trafficking measures.

The meeting underscored the importance of reliable data in supporting evidence-based planning, tracking progress and providing a clearer picture of the resources committed by government institutions and development partners to combat human trafficking.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Director of the Human Trafficking Secretariat, Abena Annobea Asare, stressed the importance of stakeholder collaboration in developing a practical and effective National Plan of Action.

She called on all partners to maintain their commitment to addressing identified gaps and strengthening efforts to prevent human trafficking, protect victims and support the prosecution of offenders.
The Ministry said it would continue to work with relevant stakeholders to advance the development of the new National Plan of Action and strengthen coordinated efforts towards eliminating human trafficking in Ghana.
