Paul Afoko says he never abandoned NPP despite 2015 suspension

New Patriotic Party () National Chairman hopeful Paul Awentami Afoko says he remained loyal to the party despite his indefinite suspension in 2015 and continued to support its activities throughout the period.

Speaking at a press conference on July 14, Afoko said he never abandoned the NPP, insisting that he continued to support parliamentary candidates and constituency activities while hoping for the party’s return to power.

“I did not complete my term, that is a matter known to all, but I never abandoned the NPP. Even after my suspension, I continued to support candidates and constituencies. I continued to believe in this party,” he said.

Afoko added that his ambition is to help reunite the party and strengthen its grassroots structures ahead of future elections.

He was suspended indefinitely by the NPP’s National Executive Committee in October 2015 over allegations of misconduct, including bringing the party into disrepute, failing to cooperate with other national executives and disregarding party decisions.

Afoko is now seeking to return as National Chairman, with a campaign focused on reconciliation, unity and rebuilding the party’s grassroots base.
